Kate, Lexi, William

Thankful

Dear Lexi, William and Kate,

When your Great Grandpa (Grammy’s Dad) he was just six years old, his dad died. So his mom took him and his brother back to Ireland for a little bit. When it was time to head back to America to get a job, she decided to keep my grandpa in Ireland for a little longer to help with the transition. Little was she anticipating a war to break out and leave my grandpa stranded in Ireland for eight years. He was with family, but he went EIGHT whole years without ever seeing or talking to his mom.

I can’t not wrap my head around this idea. This poor boy, who is the same age as Lexi right now just lost his Father and then didn’t see his mom for 8 years. I get sad if I don’t see you kids each day. I can not imagine not being able to see any of you for eight years.

So as we head into Thanksgiving this week. I am thankful for all of our health, to have your daddy by my side everyday, the ability to see each of you kids, tuck you into bed and hear your laughter everyday and a job that challenges me but more importantly provides our family with everything we could ever need and more.

I love each of you more than you can ever understand.

Halloween 2018

Dear Kiddos,

I threw in the towel this year on coordinated costumes. sigh. I love them and think they are awesome, but you guys had different ideas on what you wanted to be, I didn’t want to spend all the money and William needed to wear the dinosaur costume this year as it wouldn’t fit next year. So Lexi was Elsa, William was a green dinosaur and Kate was a piggy.

William had his Halloween party at his school on Tuesday and I was fortunate enough to be able to volunteer at it. We had two crafts, two games and a snack. I coordinated one of the crafts and we created cotton ball ghosts. You also painted a paper pumpkin, golfed into pumpkins and played pin the candy in the bucket. I loved being there and seeing how happy you were to have me there. Later that night, I asked what your favorite part of the day was and you said making ghosts with Mommy.

IMG_1928

IMG_1933

Then on actual Halloween, Lexi had a spooky lunch and party in the afternoon. Originally, I was not planning on attending, but after talking to my boss about it, she convinced me to go. I am so grateful to work for a company that supports family activities during the work week and a supportive boss. When I arrived in the cafeteria to surprise you, you were so shocked to see me as you didn’t think I was going to be there. It was so awesome to see how proud you were to have me there and SO worth it! For your spooky lunch, you had gobblin fingers (pizza slices with no sauce) and the cafeteria was decorated with purple and orange lights bat lights floating around on the walls and lit up pumpkins on each table.

After that, Daddy, Kate, Badge and Great Grandma arrived while you changed into your costume. Then, your class had a little parade to the older classrooms to show off your costumes and then had a party in your classroom for the rest of the day. So happy I was able to be there for it!

IMG_1937-1

That evening, you guys all got dressed up and we headed out to trick or treat around 6:00. Near the end, William started to get pretty tired and needed me to carry his bucket as it was too heavy. We were home probably just after 7:15. The kids sorted and counted their candy, ate a couple pieces and then headed up to bed for the night.

IMG_1944-1

IMG_1941

Kate really didn’t like her costume at all and wanted the head off right away. She trick-or-treated to the neighbors house and then had fun waving to all of the trick-or-treaters at our house.

Another fun halloween in the books! Now to start thinking about Christmas!

Disneyland Day 3

We were much more leisurely getting out of the hotel room this morning. We packed everything up and brought it down to the car so we could just grab the car and head to the airport.

The big things on the to-do list for the day was to meet Donald Duck, Daisy, take some magic pictures and buy souvenirs.

We got to the magic kingdom park around 8:30 and the kids began their shopping.

disneyland 26They looked around in several of the stores and Lexi settled on a Minnie Mouse color changing pen and a Minnie Mouse autograph book that she was going to use to color. William picked a plastic Mickey Mouse figure that he could move his arms and legs. They picked out a stuffed Piglet for Kate and some cookie cutter/pancake molds for Grammy. Mommy got a Minnie hat and a christmas ornament. We also admired some of the Character villans that were on main street, that only come out at Halloween time.

disneyland 31Next up, we took some magic photos in front of the castle and then rode the Astro Orbiter Ride and made our way through Pixie Hollow to meet Tinkerbell.

IMG_1963IMG_1964

disneyland 34disneyland 33

Finally, Donald was out, so we made our way back to the front of the park to meet Donald. It was probably one of the funnest things to watch as a parent. William was beside himself that Donald Duck was right in front of him. He was just in awe.

Disneyland 30

It was nearing lunchtime so we explored Tarzan’s treehouse and grabbed a bit to eat.

IMG_4851

Then Daddy, Lexi and William took the train half way around the park (it wasn’t very conducive to strollers) so I met you on the other side.

IMG_E4857

We rode the Buzz Lightyear ride again and then headed to downtown Disney to find the shirt that Daddy wanted in the right size. After that we headed back to the hotel, grabbed the car and made a quick stop at Panera to eat at the airport.

IMG_4873

Both of you kiddos changed into jammies since we weren’t scheduled to land until midnight. You played with your toys for a bit on the plane and then both cashed out.

And that my sweet kiddos concludes your first Disney experience. I can’t wait to go again–especially with Kate!

Disneyland Day 2-California Adventure Land

William woke up around 5:45 and therefore everyone else woke up around that time as well. We got ready, grabbed a bit to eat for the ride to the park and arrived at Magic Kingdom a little after 7 am for magic hours. I grabbed a FastPass to the Cars ride and then headed to Peter Pan’s flight. It was raining, so we we threw on some garbage bags I had bought at CVS the night before and went to wait in line (which was already 35 minutes!). William refused to wear anything so we did our best to try and protect him and keep him dry.

IMG_1792

While we were waiting, Lexi, William and I rode the carousel and then popped back in line with Daddy.

disneyland 16

The ride was so fun as we flew through the air in a hot air balloon type basket through Neverland.

We walked out of the ride, right at 8:00 and jumped into Snow White’s Scary Adventure, which was very similar to Winnie the pooh, just a little scarier (with the witch).

After this, we headed over to California Adventure Park to go on the Cars ride. Unfortunately, it was closed due to the rain as were most of the other rides, except for the Incredicoaster, so Bill got a fastpass and was literally sitting in the car ready to go when it broke. So, we split up–William and Daddy used a FastPass and went on the ToyStory ride while Lexi and I went on A Little Mermaid. The Boys LOVED the ToyStory ride as it was like a game where you had to shoot different things and get points.

disneyland 17After that, we waited in line for 20 minutes for the swinging Farris Wheel. William and I popped out quick and went to meet Woody, which was a big highlight.

disneyland 24 The magic of Disney came through once again, and they allowed us to pop back in line with Daddy and Lexi so we could all ride together. I was not a huge fan of the ride. I didn’t like how the car slide and swung back and forth, but William was laughing and thought it was very fun.

IMG_4761

All the FastPasses we were booking were turning into multi-use passes because the rides were shut off from the rain. A multi-use pass means you can use your FastPass on any ride at any time verses typically being tied to a specific ride during a certain time slot.

Next we went over to Soarin, where you sit in a thing like an Airplane and sore through different habitats. Our FastPass got us through the line in about 15 min verses the 60 min that everyone else was waiting.

It was around 11:00 at this point and the rain was starting to slow down a little. We grabbed a bit to eat and then went to try to find Donald and Daisy, but didn’t have any luck.

IMG_E4783

Instead we headed to Frozen the musical, which was fantastic. It was just like a broadway production.

After that we met Captain America while we were trying to find Spiderman.

Disneyland 18

Around 2:15 we went to the Disney Jr. Dance Party where the kids got to see Roadster Mickey and Minnie, Doc McStuffins and the Lion King characters. Lexi asked to go up with the rest of the kids dancing near the stage while William was perfectly content watching on my lap.

disneyland 28

The rain had pretty much stopped by this point and the Cars ride was back up and running so we went over there to redeem a FastPass. The line was 45 minutes long because all of the FastPasses that had been given out for the day for almost all of the rides had been turned into multi-use. Anyways, Disney nailed the execution of Cars land. The executed the town perfectly to replicate the movie and the ride was no exception. It started off by getting into a real lightening McQueen car and a leisurely stroll through plot lines in the movie. Then, it gets into race mode and you are racing fast like a rollercoaster on a racetrack. William was horrified. I mean terrified. Straight terror. He passed the height requirement by about a half of an inch and had never been on something that went that fast and spun around. About 10 seconds into the ride, I took my hand and covered his eyes so he couldn’t see. When we got off the ride, we really built it up like ‘oh my gosh, that was so fun! William, you did so good’ and didn’t acknowledge the fact that he had been scared and he bought it.

disneyland 29

After that, we went over to the Incredicoster and watched Daddy ride in the front car. We all went on the Toy Story ride and then met Buzz after.

disneyland 23Disneyland 20

disneyland 25

Finally Spiderman was out so we ventured back over to his posting and waited 30 minutes for the meet and greet. William’s dreams came true. He was very shy when he was meeting him, but couldn’t stop talking about it after.

disneyland 27Next up, we grabbed a Mickey pretzel for dinner, ate a couple of snacks and went to go on the Cars ride again. This time the wait was 60 minutes long for the FastPass, but the non-FastPass line was over 3 hours. William did better this time, but was still pretty scared.

IMG_1840disneyland 22By this time it was starting to get dark so we went to find a spot to watch Paint the Parade. Both kiddies feel asleep before we even found a spot to watch.

Disneyland 19Again, it was out of this world. So good. I wish the kids could have seen it. After this, Daddy and I each took a turn riding the Incredicoaster again and Daddy wanted to try and beat his score on the Toy Story ride again. The park closed around 10 and Daddy and I walked back to the hotel. We were both exhausted. A full day of walking and adventure.

Disneyland Day 1

Lexi and William

You both woke up around 5:30am, which wasn’t a huge surprise considering it would have been 7:30 am back home. William seemed to be feeling much better. He took a quick shower to clean away and vom smell and him and Mommy headed upstairs to check out the breakfast situation.

Around 6:15, we started to give you clues on where we were and what we were going to do.

  • Clue number 1: We need sunscreen today (your guesses were the beach)
  • Clue number 2: Where are we (Lexi pieced together that we must be in California because that is where I was)
  • Clue number 3: We’re going to meet some of the fun characters that are on your jammies (Lexi figured it out!) and was jumping all over the bed.

We quickly put on your new Mickey and Minnie shirts, headed up for breakfast and were at the park entrance around 7:30 or so for an 8:00 open. The park was all decorated for Halloween so there were huge pumpkins that had Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pluto and Mickey carved into them.

Upon entering the park, I quickly purchased the max pass to get photos and the ability to book fastpasses. We took a family picture in front of the train depot and then started to make our way back to Peter Pan’s flight.

IMG_2021

On the way, we saw Chip, Pluto, and got Minnie’s autograph.

disneyland magic kingdom 1

IMG_2019

disneyland 2

We also met Captain Hook and Peter Pan.

IMG_1639

By the time we got to Peter Pan’s flight the line was pretty long, so we passed and went to ride Dumbo and then went over to a Small World.

disneyland 3

IMG_1655

It was about 9:00 by this point and we headed into Toon Town. We rode the goofy gadget coster a couple of times, played on Donald’s boat, saw Mickey’s & Minnie’s house and met Minnie.

disneyland 4Disneyland 7We also saw Goofy’s house and met Goofy too.

disneyland 5After that, we went to go ride Roger Rabbits Toon Spin. It broke about 3/4 of the way through the ride, and we were escorted out, which was probably a good thing as William wasn’t a huge fan.

Disneyland 6After that, we headed over to Big Thunder Railroad mountain where Mommy and Lexi rode it. Lexi said she liked it, but didn’t want to ride again with Daddy.

We were hungry for a snack so Daddy found some food, while Lexi and I waited in line to meet princesses. While we were waiting, we saw Gaston and Repunzel.

disneyland 8

We were all pretty hungry and decided it was lunchtime, however, everything looked packed. While we were deciding what to eat, Lexi fell asleep in the stroller. I found a place that allows you to order online and then pick up at a window, so we did that and relaxed in the shade a bit. Next up was Winnie the Pooh’s Adventure. It was the cutest little ride that took you through the story of ‘The Blustery Day’ everything was neon and a cute mellow ride. We had to wake Lexi up for this one, but she really seemed to like it.

Then right around the corner, which is also in the back of the park, Eeyeore, Tigger and Pooh were signing autographs. They commented on our autograph book (mine from ’93) and even looked through it to see who we had.

disney 9

Next up, we headed over to Buzz’s toystory ride to use a fastpass. This ride was also pretty fun. We wore 3D classes and it was a slower but fun ride for the kids.

After that we headed over to Autopia where the kids were able to drive mini cars. While waiting in line, William had to go potty, so him and I jumped out to find a bathroom. I thought we were going to miss going on the ride, but I asked if we could come back in line after the bathroom and to my surprise they said yes!

disney 10

After the kids learned to drive, we found a good spot to watch the Pixar Parade and enjoy a Mickey ice cream. This parade was fantastic. The music was great, engaging floats with fire bursts and shooting water. Very entertaining!

disney 11disney 12

We then took advantage of the short lines to go on the Finding Nemo submarine ride.

IMG_1743

We were quickly approaching our character dinning dinner experience, so we hopped on the monorail that took us to one of the disney hotels that had Goofy’s kitchen.

After paying almost twice what I had expected (they raised the prices the week before AND the estimate I received didn’t include taxes and service fees… we were seated and had an amazing time. The kids met chef Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale and Pluto. Mickey and Minnie even danced with Lexi and William in during one of their little performances. You two kids could not stop smiling.

disney 13Disneyland 13

While we were there, it rained a little but it looked like it was going to clear up, so we headed over to California adventure land to meet some characters and catch the nighttime parade. It kept getting delayed due to the weather and William was hanging on by a thread and eventually crashed in the stroller.

Lexi and I took advantage of a short line to meet Elsa, which was a total highlight. After that, she crashed in the stroller and we wheeled ourselves back to our hotel room (about .5 mile) and all crashed.

Disneyland-Getting here

Lexi and William,

I was scheduled to go out to LA for a TV shoot and had suggested that Grammy and Papa fly out with Daddy and you three kids to meet me and do a quick visit to Disneyland. After Grandma T passed away, Grammy and Papa had to cancel their big trip they had planned so I thought this would be something fun to look forward to and lift spirits a bit. They decided to pass, but wanted to watch Kate and encouraged the four of us to go.

The whole trip was a surprise. So I left on my trip (with all of our stuff packed in my bag!) On Thursday, Daddy brought both of you to school like any other day. He picked up William and then surprised Lexi around noon and headed over to Grammy and Papas to drop off Kate. When asked where you were going, Daddy just responded, ‘to see mom’ You ate a quick lunch and then Papa brought you three to the airport.

As you were leaving, Kate went to get her jacket and shoes and was the saddest little puppy when she found out she wasn’t going.

Once at the airport, papa dropped the three of you off and Lexi goes, ‘Where is he going?’ she thought I was coming off the airplane and you were just going to pick me up. Daddy stuck with his story, ‘We’re going to see mommy.’

You bummed around the airport and then it was time to board. Again, you two were confused as you thought you were waiting for me to come off of a plane. After boarding , you thought you were taking a plane to pick me up. LOL!

Disneyland getting there 1

You landed in LA around 5:00 and this is where the adventure really begins. Apparently, the car rental company I booked through wasn’t the one the airport shuttles to AND it was closed. So Daddy ended up renting a car for twice of what we planned.

Around 6:30 or 7, you were finally on the road to Disneyland, about a 45 min drive.  Unfortunately, there was a car crash on the freeway causing a 20 min delay and just lots of traffic resulting in lots of start stop and jerking. Additionally, you kiddos hadn’t eaten anything but candy in the last 9 hours or so, which didn’t help the situation.

About 3 miles from the hotel, William threw up all over himself and the car seat.

Disneyland getting there 2

Daddy stopped at a 7-Eleven, took you out of his clothes (thankfully, I had packed another set in the airplane bag in case something happened. I had all of their other clothes with me) and did his best to clean the carseat and finally to our hotel around 9:15 PST (11 CST). Both of you were passed out.

We transferred you to the stroller, and put you to bed.  Lexi woke up, went to the bathroom ate some Panera, played a couple games on the iPad and then feel asleep.

Thankfully, the hotel had washer/dryers so I was able to wash all of William’s clothes, the car seat liner any anything else that had gotten dirty. I had also purchased some 409 and a roll of paper towels to clean out the carseat and the car.

Finally around 12:30-1:00, I was able to get some rest.

Crossing our fingers and sending lots of prayers that William was carsick and not coming down with the flu.

Mama

It’s so much more than a chair

I’m oddly attached to this $200 recliner wrapped in cheap synthetic ‘leather’. When I found out I was pregnant with Lexi, I knew I wanted a recliner that could rock and recline in verses a traditional rocking chair or glider. We spent a lot of time looking but had a hard time finding something that wasn’t super expensive and that also didn’t take up a huge footprint.

Low and behold, Menards had something. Daddy wasn’t sold on it at first. He was worried that it would get moved to a different location once we were done with it and it wasn’t the most aesthetically pleasing piece of furniture. I assured him that I would get rid of it when the kids were old enough and didn’t need it anymore.

IMG_0866

rocking chair 3Just as Kate was about to be born, we started to notice some cracking and flaking near the head rest and the ‘leather’ quickly started to peel away. The spots grew bigger and bigger over the year, but for the most part we were able to cover it with a blanket. Around her first birthday, the seat cushion started to do the same thing. Little pieces of brown fabric were everywhere and it was driving me insane.

When I thought about getting rid of the chair, my eyes would puddle up. How can I get rid of something that has provided me with so much comfort and nurturing.

rocking chair 2rocking chair 5I vividly remember holding Lexi’s warm 10-day-old little body against my chest feeling her short little breaths tickle my skin while we rocked. And I thought, how could I possibly ever let her go to school? She was a mere 10 days old, when 20 six and seven year old kids were shot to death at school. The innocence of those children, the fear they must have had and lack of knowledge they had to know what to do. And don’t even get me started on their parents. I couldn’t. How could I ever let my heart walk out of my body and know there was a chance that something so horrific could possibly happen. So, I held your sweet, innocent little body next to mine and we rocked. And I prayed, a lot. And I still do today.rocking chair 1Every single night, for 5 years, i sat in that chair and nursed my babies, read stories and sang twinkle twinkle and snuggled for sometime hours on end while they fell asleep in my arms. I can still feel our two little bodies smushed between the arms, wiggling around to get comfortable. There were many nights that I slept the entire night in the chair with the kids to ensure they got some sleep while they were under the weather.rocking chair 4

So while I rationally know it is just a chair. It is so much more. It became a place of comfort for myself and the kids. It enabled memories to be created and bonds to grow.

So long chair.

William’s first Day of Preschool

Oatsie,

I was pretty nervous for you leading up to this day. Between the three of you kids, you are my more shy, reserved homebody. While you love to play with your sister and like to be around other kids, you don’t necessarily play with them. You prefer to often play by yourself when we are with other kids. You don’t speak up when you’re around other adults and nothing makes you happier than being at home in your pajamas. Additionally, you really haven’t been away from Mom or Dad since Kate was born 15 months ago so you have become really accustomed to being at home, staying in your jimmies all day and not having a regular school-type routine.

IMG_1534

Last week, we attended your open house and while quiet, you didn’t seem too scared or nervous. I think it helps you are going to the same school as Lexi and are even in the same room that she was. I also bought you a couple new shirts and some awesome new green shoes to wear to help generate some excitement for you.

I hope this year you’re able to become a little more outgoing and start to learn more of your numbers and letters. You love to count and know all your colors and shapes but identifying numbers and letters isn’t something we have ventured too far into–nor have you shown any interest in learning about those things.

Happy first day of school buddy!

Mama

2018 Florida Vacation

Dear Kiddos,

This week was full of a lot of firsts for everyone. We took our first family vacation, you took your first airplane ride, saw the ocean (or the Gulf) for the first time, Kate went swimming for the first time and we had so much fun!

florida vaca 2018 2

Day 1 (Sunday):

IMG_9867

We woke up pretty early because of the bright sun shining through the blinds and the forecast looked promising; 70s, no wind, calm waters and sunshine all day. Grammy and I went to Walmart to get some diapers, clothes and necessities for the week. When we came back Lexi, William, Daddy and Papa were done on the beach setting up some Survivor challenges. Lexi’s competitive side came out and William loved pushing his trucks in the sand.  In the afternoon, we swam in pool and it felt amazing (80+ degrees) We rounded off the day by watching the sunset from balcony, eating William snacks (pickles rolled in cream cheese and salami), drinking Yingling beer and kiddie cocktails for the kiddos.

Floriday vaca 2018 3IMG_9910

IMG_9893

Day 2 (Monday):

Dad, Bill and I started the day off on the golf course. I played 9, they played 18. floriday vaca 2018 4

When I came back, Grammy had just taken all 3 of you kids to the beach and were playing in the sand. We had a little picnic lunch on the beach of cheese and crackers before migrating to the pool. Mom’s cousin Kelly was down here with her family visiting her parents. Lexi and Ruby started to become fast friends and spent a lot of time playing mermaids.

IMG_9986

IMG_9989

We walked down to Schooners for a sunset dinner and to hear/watch the cannon get shot off.

Day 3 (Tuesday)

It was pretty overcast today and rained from 11-3ish. Mom, Dad, Lexi and William went over to visit the big Alvin’s Island. What a disappointment this was. There was barely and merchandise and they didn’t have the shark tank or the alligators that they did when I was growing up. The kids ate lunch and played. William and Bill napped. Lexi, Grandma and I went to find mermaids and by the time we got back it had stopped raining. We went down to the pool to swim with Kelly’s family. Lexi shared the mermaids with the girls and they had so much fun with them in the pool.

IMG_9988

That evening, they planned a movie night, which is absolutely hilarious considering that is what Kelly and I used to do growing up.  While the girls watched Little Mermaid, Daddy and I went out for beers with Kelly and Josh. Although overcast, temps were in the high 60s and pretty windy/wavy.

IMG_9872

Day 4 (Wednesday)

We woke up early from sun again, but it was deceiving as it was pretty cold! We had a high of 63 and it was very very windy. All 7 of us headed inland a little bit to a conservatory to see if there was a good spot to take pictures. We didn’t find anything but had a nice little walk. We came back, ate some lunch and Papa took Lexi and William swimming.

IMG_9884

Bill and I went to St. Andrew’s park to scope out picture locations and found a few good spots. We came back got the kids ready for pictures and took them down by the Pier in St. Andrews park and watched the sunset.

Floriday Vaca 2018

After dinner, we did a ‘midnight’ swim and Lexi went over to Ruby and Pearl’s for an ice cream treat.

IMG_9987

Day 5 (Thursday)

Similar to Wednesday, the sun was shinning but it was cold (high of 62) and windy. Daddy and Papa went golfing in the morning so Grammy, Mama and the kids checked out Pier Park, but didn’t get out as it was just shopping and then headed to Bayou Joes for lunch over the water. Afterwards, I took Lexi and William swimming while Kate napped and then had a low key night with any early bedtime.

floriday vaca 2018 5

Day 6 (Friday)

Papa, Daddy and I golfed at 7:30 and it was chilly (45 degrees). I headed home after 9 holes and Papa and Daddy continued for another 9. When I came back, we headed down to the beach to dig for some shells.

IMG_9907

It was a beautiful day. Sunny and no winds (finally!) We had a picnic lunch and walked to regency for ice cream/beer/visit with mommy’s Uncle Joe, Aunt Micki and cousin Brian. Walking back on the beach, the waves had created these sand walls and William LOVED to walk along the edge of them as they would crumble before his feet. After more swimming at the Summer House, we ate some Pizza for dinner and the kids both feel asleep very early (William at the counter). I packed to get ready to head back home tomorrow.

Then Saturday morning we headed back home which concludes our first (of many) family vacations.

Love,

Mama

Happy 3rd Birthday William

My sweet sweet William the Badger,

Recently, Daddy has been working on finishing part of the basement and you love to be right in his shadow. You know the names of all the tools he uses, have your own set of tools and are next to him following suit as he is working away. He is your role model and you want to be just like him. It is truly the sweetest.

William helping

At 3-years old, your personality has definitely started to come out more. You are obsessed with all things green. You like TV characters that wear green clothes, will only eat off green plates and drink from green cups, you like green beans, granny-smith apples and broccoli–because they are green, always pick out green clothes if they are clean and just want everything green, green green.

You also developed a love for spiderman. We’re not sure how this started, but we think it was because Daddy bought you a spiderman fishing pole last year. But you have 3 pairs of spiderman pajamas, asked for spiderman toys for your birthday and Christmas and even had a spiderman birthday cake. I’ll often eavesdrop on playing conversations you and Lexi have and you’ll pretend to be Peter Parker and it is so sweet to hear you play and sing the Spiderman song.

william spiderman

Speaking of pajamas, you love them. You wear them all day almost everyday. If we go somewhere, we’ll make you change into clothes, but the moment you step foot in the house, you run upstairs and put your jammies back on. During baths, the new jammies you’re going to pick out to wear next is a frequent conversation.

william 3 Lexi is your best friend, and you refer to her as sister. You two play so amazingly well together. You love to play legos together, Tsum Tsum or at the doll house/barbie dream house or Elsa palace. However, you always play with the ‘boy’ version of the toy. So you may have the dad, the brother, the dog, or will often just have spiderman interact with whatever doll/toy Lexi is playing with. You’ll often put all the stuffed animals together and blankets and set up things on the stairs or in the middle of the living room together.

William and lexiLexi and William 2

William Lexi 3As good of a little brother you are, you are also an awesome big brother to baby Kate. When she is sad and crying, you randomly start singing songs to her. You love to make her laugh and would often ask to hold her when she was first born. I love to put on your baby voice and talk to her calling her Baby Tate or Tatelyn.

William and KateWilliam and Kate 2

As much as you love to play with your sister, you may be a little more introverted as you like to play by yourself, even when other kids are around. You often choose to play with whatever looks the most fun to you regardless of what the other kids are doing/playing.

We potty trained you around 2.5 and it was a process. You still sit down while you go and you don’t always get your gun (as daddy likes to call it) down and we often find pee all over the floor and down the side of the toliet as it has leaked between the bowl and the lid. I think we need to teach you about the beauty of standing up, but I’m a little worried we’re still going to have messes, just on the walls instead of the floor.

William 3-2

At 2.5 we also stopped having you take naps. You were pretty challenging to get down and stay down, but the bigger issue was if you did nap, you would stay up until 11:00 or later. You still get pretty tired between 3 and 6 and if we’re in the car, you’ll often fall asleep. If you don’t fall asleep, those hours can be a bit challenging. I talked about this in your 2.5 year post, but you are a crazy sleeper and regularly fall asleep with a book on your face.

You like to eat meals less and would prefer to snack all day. I’ll leave your food on your plate and you’ll graze on it for hours taking a bit here and there. The only time you really finish something is if you want to eat a treat and need to finish your meal first.

You weighed in at 32 lbs and XX inches tall. You’re in about the 50% for both. You seem to be a string bean and just started wearing 3T clothes but will still wear a lot of 2T clothes.

You have your Daddy’s skin and tan like a brown potato with a glimpse of the sun. You also have the huge Sampson eyes that are extremely expressive. They get massive when you’re excited or proud and have eyelashes to make every girl envious. The one thing you did inherit from me are the colors of your pretty green eyes and will have speaks of blue sneak in there every once in awhile.

William, you are as sweet as cotton candy and are my snuggle bud. You curl up into my lap like a little ball of butter and love your family. We love you so much. Happy 3 little bud!!
