Baby #2–8 Weeks and Dr. Appointment

Dear Baby,

I’ve been looking forward to this moment for weeks. Today, we went to the doctor to get a little status update on how you’re doing in there. The doctor said everything looks fantastic!!! To hear those words and to see your little movements up on the screen was such a HUGE relief.

Unfortunately, your daddy wasn’t able to join us. Big Sissy came down with a summer fever yesterday and daddy had to stay home with her. However, technology came to the rescue as I was able to FaceTime Daddy while we were having the ultrasound and he was able to see you up on the screen and hear your little heart beat, a strong 160 beats a minute.

Back to the appointment, I had been anxiously awaiting this appointment, probably as most moms do, but I was much more worried this time around then I was with Lexi because the lack of pregnancy symptoms I was having. I was worried you didn’t really exist and my body was playing games with me, or something had gone wrong and I just hadn’t gotten to signs of that yet.

Everything during the appointment went really well. Some of your measurements were a little large so they potentially threw out an earlier due date, but for my sanity, I’m sticking with the later one of March 3rd. Other than some blood work and a couple reminders from the doctor about taking care of myself, everything looked great and we are due to arrive back in the middle of August!

8 Week Appointment

Dear Baby,

What an exciting day for you! You got your first of many many pictures taken. We had our first doctor appointment today and our first ultrasound. You’re just about 1 inch and have tiny little arm and leg buds. The other exciting thing we got to see was your heart beat. It was beating about 180 times per minute, which is right where it should be. Anywhere between 150 and 200 is healthy. Although we didn’t hear it, we watched it beat and pulse. It was such an incredible experience. Your dad was very excited and had a huge smile on his face the whole time and kept saying, ‘Wow! That is so cool’. And, I have to agree; you’re already pretty spectacular! They also took some blood to run a couple of tests and gave us a whole packet of information to read. Next steps are to call the insurance company to see if they cover some additional special tests for you. Then we go back to the doctor in 4 weeks to hear your heartbeat on the outside of my belly! Can’t wait! Keep growing, you are due to arrive Dec. 6!

Grandma’s Little Baker

Dear Baby

This past weekend was fairly exciting. Your dad and I photographed his good friend Justin’s wedding. It was a little rainy and cold, but overall a very nice ceremony. During the reception, we had a lot of people asking if you were going to be around anytime soon. We avoided the questions best we could, but I’m sure everyone suspects you’ll be here soon since I wasn’t drinking.

Yesterday we had a lazy day. Daddy is going to be doing some work at your Great Grandma Tansey’s house and at Grandma and Grandpa Bothwell’s house this week, so we went over to Grandma and Grandpa B’s to get a low down on what needs to be done. And we finally shared the news with them that you’re going to be here in November! I made a little apron for you that say’s ‘Grandma’s Little Baker’ and wore it over to tell them. It took a little while to connect the dots, but they were very excited! Neither of them could believe it and were very shocked BUT very excited. It felt so good to share the news and excitement with them! Tomorrow we’re going to the doctor for our first appointment. I’m praying that we get to hear your heart beat!
